The simultaneous “discovery” by research teams on two sides of the planet of Pentasilacyclopentadienides—a silicon analog of a family of carbon-based cyclic catalyst molecules—was considered an interesting coincidence, and the two teams remarkably agreed to share credit, publishing their papers side by side. That should have been a warning; humans don’t behave like that. By the time the “future chemicals” started out-competing carbon based life processes, the invasion was recognized, but already unstoppable.
